Fundraising

We think that fun, educational expeditions should be accessible to all students. Our fundraising support program has been helping students raise their own funds for over 25 years. The fundraising support program is one of the main reasons for starting the Build up of your expedition anywhere from 10 – 20 months in advance of you travelling.

As our long track record reveals, the benefits of self-funding begin long before that first exhilarating step into a foreign country and go far beyond the financial aspect.

Money matters...

Today’s employers look for candidates who can demonstrate motivation, spirit and a well-rounded education. Students who raise some or all of their costs experience a greater personal connection to their expedition. They’ll learn invaluable skills involving money and planning that will help them in future job or University interviews. And they’ll enjoy the satisfaction of targets they have achieved.

Funding an expedition gives students the chance to learn the following skills, alongside their travel and safety training:

  • Money management and handling
  • Financial planning and record keeping
  • Self-motivation and goal achievement

How much we can help...

At every step of the fundraising process, World Challenge will be there to guide and advise. We offer a full range of supporting tools to help students meet their goals:

  • Regular meetings with a World Challenge Manager
  • Fundraising and money management advice over the phone
  • Full online support

Get involved!

Last year, Challengers raised an average of 70% of the cost of their expedition.

Get creative!

Over the years, students have found many creative ways to raise money. From individual earning efforts such as part-time work or entrepreneurial efforts such as babysitting, dog walking, or selling crafts; to group efforts such as battle of the bands or movie nights, where there’s a will there’s a way!
