Satellite Communications

satellite-comms

Access to the latest satellite communication equipment ensures our teams are always connected.

Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB)

Every team carries at least one EPIRB both on their Training Expeditions and whilst in-country.  Working under the internationally monitored COSPAS/SARSAT system, EPIRB’s are an incredibly reliable, one-way communication device used to inform us that a given team is in distress and track their specific location.

Satellite phone

In addition to two local mobile phones, every team carries a satellite phone both on their training expedition and whilst in-country (with the exception of Expeditions to India).  World Challenge uses both Iridium and Thuraya phones to ensure that teams are able to communicate remotely.
