Expedition Leaders

1 to 6-week self-sufficient expeditions to 55 amazing destinations across the world. Challengers have been participating in a team-building and skills development programme for 9-18 months prior to this expedition, raising the funds and the majority of teams will have helped to plan their itinerary too. This is your chance to get involved in offering young people the experience of a lifetime.

Many Expedition Leaders choose to work for World Challenge because they know our reputation for back-up and support. Whatever happens, wherever you are in the world, a team of specialists will stop at nothing to ensure you get help.

Minimum requirements:
  • Hard Skills/Technical Qualifications in trekking / bushwalking / tramping
  • Experience leading 5+ day bushwalks/treks
  • Experience working or travelling in the developing world
  • Wilderness/Remote Area First Aid Qualification or equivalent
  • Previous Experience working with youth/appropriate soft skills
  • 24+ years old
  • Police/Criminal/Working with Children Screening

If you have a considerable amount of experience working with young people in the outdoors, but do not satisfy all of the above requirements, there may still be opportunities. For example, there may be opportunities as an Expedition Assistant for those who do not meet all the minimum requirements but who hold a qualification and have experience in either developing world travel or youth development.
