Potential Leader Course

All potential Expedition Leaders must attend a Potential Leader Training and Assessment Course. The course is designed to develop both technical qualifications and practical experience and will cover all aspects of Expedition Leading or Expedition Assistant Leading on an overseas expedition.

Part 1 - Training Phase (2 days)
This phase, based largely indoors, involves an introduction to World Challenge and an induction into the ethos of the company. We will cover roles and responsibilities, company policies, safety management and facilitation / reviewing skills.

Part 2 - Assessment Phase (2.5 days)
This phase is a practical assessment. During this phase you will participate in a mini-expedition with a team of students. You will be shadowed by a World Challenge Instructor who will assess your suitability for the role of Expedition Leader. You will be assessed on your ability to handle matters of safety, your implementation of the World Challenge Ethos and your ability to relate to the students and School Leaders.

Training is provided free of charge and accommodation and food is also provided but travel expenses are not reimbursed as it is a key part of the interview / training process that takes place before a Leader is assigned to a team.
