Cambodia expedition sample itineraries
Some possible Cambodia expedition objectives are given below, please note these may alter between now and your expedition. The Expedition Planning Manager for Cambodia will agree a suitable expedition itinerary for you, to best match the abilities and aspirations of your team.
CAMBODIA ITINERARY
Acclimatisation
Teams will have the option of spending a few days acclimatising in Phnom Penh or Siem Reap before traveling out to the remote jungle region of Ratanakiri.
Trekking
Trekking will take place in Ratanakiri National Park, an extremely remote jungle area which will provide a fantastic physical challenge. Teams will put camping skills to good use, and learn about survival skills in jungle environments.
Project
Cambodia is one of the least developed nations in Asia, and World Challenge has many links with charities and NGO's in-country. Past teams have helped to improve facilities at an orphanage for children who had lost one or both parents to AIDS. There are many opportunities to work with a range of rural and urban projects.
R&R
Aside from exploring the mighty temples of Angkor, teams will have the chance to visit impressive landmarks in the capital city, along with historical Khmer Rouge sites. Teams may also opt to travel south to relax on the stunning beaches around Sihanoukville.
CAMBODIA & LAOS ITINERARY
Acclimatisation
Teams will have the option of acclimatising in either Cambodia or Laos. In Cambodia teams can trek on the fringes of the remote Ratanakiri National Park, whilst in Laos lucky teams may catch a glimpse of wild elephants in Phou Khao Khuay National Park.
Trekking
Main treks can take place in a remote northeastern jungle region of Cambodia or in southern Laos. In Laos the Bolaven Plateau is one option where teams can explore cascading waterfalls, verdant green jungles and lush forests. It is one of the principal growing regions for Lao coffee, as well as being home to a number of minority tribes.
Project
Teams have the rewarding opportunity to experience a different culture through community development schemes, and working in orphanages and schools in Cambodia - one of the world's poorest countries.
R&R
Cambodia and Laos offer abundant R&R options including exploring the 'Tomb Raider Temple' at Ta Prohm in Angkor, relaxing in Si Phan Don in Laos, or perhaps even making it south to discover Cambodia's beautiful coastline.
CAMBODIA & THAILAND ITINERARY
Acclimatisation
Teams could travel to Khao Yai National Park and explore the remote jungle, home to one of the largest wild elephant populations in Thailand, and the stunning Haew Suwat waterfall, featured in the film 'The Beach'.
Trekking
Teams will be able to head into pristine jungle and learn key survival skills under the expert tutelage of their local guides. Treks will also pass through hill tribe villages and some nights teams will stay in stilt houses, witnessing first-hand the traditional lifestyles of their inhabitants.

Aside from visiting the mighty temples of Angkor, teams will have the option to travel south to islands such as Ko Chang or Ko Samet. Once there, they could book themselves into a hostel, a beach hut, or even just arrange to sling their hammocks under the stars!
CAMBODIA & VIETNAM ITINERARY
Acclimatisation
Teams have the option of spending a few days acclimatising in Saigon or Phnom Penh before moving on to a trek in a National Park. The flora and fauna on these treks are stunning and the guides have an incredible wealth of knowledge.
Trekking
Teams will undertake a jungle trek where camping skills can be put to good use and they can learn about the survival skills required in jungle environments.

Aside from visiting the mighty temples of Angkor, teams will have the chance to travel north along the Vietnamese coast to visit the once proud palaces of the Nguyen emperors in Hue, the lazy beaches of Danang or the famed tailors of Hoi An. Teams might also opt to head out from Saigon to explore the floating markets of the Mekong Delta.
