Brazil expedition sample itinerary

Some possible expedition objectives are given in the research aid, please note these may alter between now and your expedition. The Expedition Program Manager for Brazil will agree a suitable expedition itinerary for you, to best match the abilities and aspirations of your team.

Acclimatisation
Trek through alpine meadows, rainforest, grassland or finger-like peaks in one of the national parks around Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. Alternatively, fly straight to Manaus where you will complete your acclimatisation in the jungle, learning the basic skills required to survive in this challenging environment.

Trekking
Set out from the busy jungle capital of Manaus, explore the unique Amazonian ecosystems from the river. Travel past the famous meeting of the waters and deeper into the Manuri area. Through the days you will explore the shores and small creeks in the motorised canoes on shorter trips. You will be sleeping in hammocks at night and by day will be learning jungle survival skills from the local guide.

Project
A team took a dug-out motorised canoe through flooded jungle to a small cabaclo community called Tucunare in the Amazon jungle. The team slept in hammocks and cooked for themselves on wood stoves. They used local wood to rebuild the community building alongside the local people. They played endless games of football but never managed to beat the Brazilians.

R&R
Relax on one of the superb beaches that Brazil offers, such as Copacabana. There is a possible opportunity for dolphin watching in Manaus and white water rafting near Rio de Janeiro.
