Honduras expedition sample itinerary

Some possible expedition objectives are given below, please note these may alter between now and your expedition. The Expedition Program Manager for Honduras will agree a suitable expedition itinerary for you, to best match the abilities and aspirations of your team.

Acclimatisation
Lake Yojoa is Honduras's largest natural lake. Surrounded by cloudforested mountains and with two National Parks on either side of the lake, there are some fantastic trekking opportunities. The spectacular 42m Pulhapanzak Falls and Los Naranjos, an unexcavated pre-Hispanic ruin on the Northwestern shore of the lake, are also interesting places to visit.

Trekking
Climb through thick pine forest to reach Honduras's highest point - Cerro de las Minas at 2849m. Not only a fantastic achievement to reach the summit, but as the trek starts in some small rural communities this trek has an interesting cultural element to it too.

Project
Teams usually carry out project work in rural villages in Western Honduras. Project work often entails some maintenance work in schools, painting murals, fixing the buildings or general odd jobs with plenty of opportunity for interaction with local villagers and children.

R&R
Honduras has some great rest and relaxation options; for some adrenalin there's white water rafting, for some culture the beautiful Mayan Ruins in Copan and for some proper relaxation, the hot springs in Gracias or snorkelling in the Bay Islands. All teams will also have the opportunity to learn to dive and gain their PADI qualification.
