World Challenge is actively engaged with key industry bodies.
Our expertise and high standards are reflected in our prestigious key industry partners & accreditation. World Challenge was the first, and remains one of the very few providers of school overseas expeditions to hold the Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) Quality Badge. We remain actively engaged with the development of this standard, ensuring World Challenge is at the heart of ensuring quality and safety on overseas expeditions.
Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge
World Challenge holds a prestigious Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) Quality Badge, specifically designed for overseas expeditions. The nationally recognised badge is designed to bring together all existing safety and quality badges into one easily identifiable mark of high standards. It is only awarded after a rigorous external assessment, which assures our customers that we actually do what we say we do. To achieve the LOtC Quality Badge, World Challenge has shown that we meet six quality indicators:
- Having a process in place to help users plan the learning experience effectively
- Providing accurate information about our offer
- Providing activities, experience or resources that meet learner needs
- Reviewing the experience and acting on feedback
- Meeting the needs of the users
- Having safety management systems in place to manage risk effectively
Expedition Providers’ Association
World Challenge is a full member of the EPA – a membership organisation for the overseas youth expedition sector, and the awarding body for the Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) badge. This puts World Challenge at the heart of a network of industry professionals available for consultation on a wide range of issues in the field. As members we agree to abide by the EPA Code of Practice. Global Programmes Director, Pat Milston, is currently Vice Chair of the EPA and sits on its working party to review all industry operating practices through a revision of the EPA Standard.

World Challenge will always recommend going to see a specialist travel doctor over your usual doctor prior to departure. Travel doctors can often offer more bespoke advice about risk at the localised (as opposed to national) level. This can ultimately save you a few dollars, for example if you only need anti-malarial prophylaxis for part of your expedition. Below are travel doctors that have done a great job of preparing our travellers for departure in the past; between them they have a great spread of clinics, minimising the distance you need to travel to get specialist advice. World Challenge provides all doctors listed with access to the Expedition Members’ Site, allowing them direct access to teams’ individual itineraries.
The Travel Doctor TMVC
A one-stop-shop for travel health preparations with a considerable network of locations, TMVC Clinics supply travel health advice, medical kits and vaccinations. Click here to visit the Travel Doctor website: www.traveldoctor.com.au (Australia), www.traveldoctor.co.nz (New Zealand).
Travel Medicine Alliance TMA
With clinics located all over Australia, the TMA network has the capacity to assist Challengers in getting the best possible travel health advice wherever teams are situated. TMA rationalise all costs to keep them as low as possible; in addition all Challengers who consult TMA clinics will receive a copy of Medical Director Dr Deb Mills’ book Travelling Well, an informative guide to safe and healthy travel. You can look up your closest clinic via the TMA website here.

In support of the program that World Challenge facilitates, Woolworths is offering a ‘guaranteed first step’ in their recruitment process for all participating challengers, and as a result, World Challenge and Woolworths have helped over 150 students gain part-time employment over the past three years around Australia.
